Jimp is the moniker of Jim Hollingworth, Cornish lad come bad, who with pen and pencil examines the morbid fascinations and absurd idiosyncrasies of everyday living. Knowing naïve lines depict the conundrums of dumb-founded misfits with black humour and B-horror production values. Occasionally something beautiful crops up in a world full of thoughtful ponderings on blood, guts and zombified delinquency.
Hollingworth's practice straddles various outlets from commissioned record covers and illustration to gallery shows and live performance. For Aeroplastics Jimp has installed a sprawling salon hang, Brain Storm, of approximately 100 works on paper featuring his troubled creations. Triggered by anything and everything the drawings create a sense of instability and "under the influence" premonition. Fact and fiction merge, myth and folklore are revealed through modern eyes. The journalistic recordings often derive from autobiographical experiences which are often of a dark nature.
Along with this he is also presenting a selection of framed works as well as multi-media drawings made directly on off-cuts and found materials.
